My project is comprised of six liquids; dish-washing soap, sprite, vegetable and three different food colours (red, blue and green), that create particular mixtures and layering in reaction to each other. When combined in a specific ways, the liquids can either layer or mix, depending on which of them are placed onto the substrate first. To further facilitate this, I purposefully chose sweetened condensed milk. Through my experiments, I found that it helps the dish-washing soap disburse further on top of it because of the amount of fat there is in the liquid. Due to the thickness of the condensed milk, it also helps with layering, as barely any of the liquids could penetrate its surface, allowing for the materials to mainly layer or mix with each other rather than the substrate. It provides a clearer picture of the effects and results of the different heights the swing is dropped from. The apparatus is designed to be stable onto the swing and to be able to disburse certain amounts of each liquid depending on the height it is dropped and the force of the swing, creating the final series.
